Coffee+Beauty! Unusual Uses for Coffee!

When I think of coffee, beverage & great body exfoliator come to mind. Until coming across this article I never knew how useful coffee can actually be! Here are my favorite's:

1. Reduce Cellulite! "Pricey cellulite creams almost always have one major ingredient in common: caffeine, which supposedly enhances fat metabolism, reducing the appearance of these fatty pockets under the skin. To make your own coffee cellulite treatment at home, mix warm used coffee grounds with coconut oil and rub it onto your skin in circular motions for a few minutes before rinsing."

2. Get Shiny Hair! "Who doesn't want shiny, healthy-looking hair? Coffee is often recommended as a simple, natural treatment to make hair extra-glossy. Brew up an extra strong pot, let it cool and apply it to your dry, clean hair. Leave it on for at least twenty minutes, then rise. Keep it up once a week or so for best results."

3. Natural Dye! "The natural pigments in coffee make it a great natural dye for fabric, paper, Easter eggs - even your hair. Brush paper with strong brew and let it dry, or soak fabric items in hot coffee. The results won't be color-fast, and may bleed out onto other items, so it's best to use this on items that won't be washed very often if at all. Using coffee as a hair shine treatment, as previously mentioned, may temporarily lend a rich, dark tint to your hair."

4. Exfoliate Skin! The same properties that reportedly enable coffee to reduce the appearance of cellulite can smooth and tighten your skin, and the texture of ground coffee will buff away dead skin cells, too. Make your own coffee-based scrub by combining a tablespoon of coffee grounds with half a tablespoon of olive oil and, optionally, a drop of your favorite essential oil."

5. Pretty Vase Fillers! "Stale or dirty coffee beans are still a thing of beauty. Use them as vase fillers, or in cups or jars full of pens and pencils. Not only are they pretty, they continue to smell good for quite a while, too."

I will definitely be trying some of these out! What do you think of these coffee uses? Which is your favorite?

My Winter Beauty Survival Guide!

Winter can be very harsh on your lips and skin. These are the products I love using, especially during the colder months.

Nivea A Kiss of Moisture!
This is my all time favorite chap-stick! I love everything about it, the scent is pleasant, the packaging is non fuss, and most importantly this moisturize's my lips like no other. After applying my lips are smooth, soft, and moisturized to perfection.

Soap and Glory Righteous Body Butter!
This is a recent discovery of mine but it quickly became a favorite and a staple in my routine. I love it when my skin feels moisturized and soft but I hate when it feels greasy and thick. This butter sinks right it, moisturizes amazingly, leaves my body smelling like Miss Dior Cherie and feeling velvety soft. It's perfect for the winter months.

Carmex Healing Cream!
Another recent discovery of mine, Carmex Healing Cream works wonderfully! Like I mentioned before I hate it when creams leave behind a greasy residue especially on hands since it makes doing anything after, a challenge and a pain. Carmex is the perfect hand cream, it's much thicker than a lotion so it's great for the colder weather, it leaves my hands perfectly moisturized, and it absorbs nicely.

What are your favorite Winter/colder weather beauty items that keep dry, flaky skin at bay?

Nailed It! Midnight Blue

This week I'm loving navy blue nails! Total opposite from my last Nailed It post. I adore dark nails especially in the fall and winter, I feel as if they complete my layered and bundled look. I love the contrast of the color against my skin and the rocker chic vibe that my nails exude. I am wearing Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro nail polish in the shade Midnight Blue. The formulation is opaque and creamy, the brush is huge making the application easy, the navy color is gorgeous but the subtle hint of blue shimmer makes it perfect!

What is your favorite fall nail polish?

NYC Black Friday Madness!

Hey Guys! Today was Black Friday and like many of you I took advantage of some amazing deals. I set my alarm clock for 4:00 am so I could start shopping ASAP (that's the earliest I'm willing to shop), and let's just say I am not a morning person so It wasn't easy waking up in the middle of the night but worth it in the end. My BFF Joanna and I met up at 34th St. Herald Square. The first place we went to was Macy's, no deals caught our attention so we moved on to 24th St. (5th Ave) I think this is the perfect spot to go shopping because the crowds are almost none existent (since everyone seems to go to the more popular shopping areas,) but it still has all the stores we were interested in which was perfect! We went to Gap, Express, H&M, Banana Republic, Zara, and Ann Taylor. Soon we found ourselves at 14th St. Union Square were we checked out American Eagle, and Sephora. I adore SoHo so it was the perfect area to end our Black Friday shopping extravaganza! We went to Urban Outfitters, TopShop, Forever21, Rite Aid, Bloomingdale's, Sabon, DKNY, and Pandora. My goal for Black Friday this year was to show restraint and not to go overboard! I set a budget and resisted buying things just because they were marked down. If I didn't love it, I didn't buy it, and I stuck by it!

Deals I took advantage of:

-GAP! Everything in the store was either 20%, 40%, or 60% off! It wasn't as amazing like last year's everything 50% off, but it was a great sale nonetheless.

-BANANA REPUBLIC! Everything in the store was 40% off! Amazing! I shopped the sale section and ended up with some amazing deals and finds!

-SEPHORA! The makeup emporium had a limited Black Friday sale. Only 10 selected products were marked down to $10 each. Even with the small variety I ended up with a fun purchase.

-AMERICAN EAGLE! I love AE, I have been shopping there for years so I was excited that everything was 40% off! A huge improvement to last year's 15% off! I was able to pick up a few great pieces and lots of basics.

-RITE AID! Now this was not a Black Friday promotion but I had to mention this rare but incredible sale. The Rite Aid in SoHo is closing out so everything left was 90% off, 90%!!! Even though 3/4ths of the store was sold out I managed to get $150 worth of products for $15!! I was stoked!

It's funny because I have been saving for Black Friday for a the longest time and I was expecting to end up with so many more things. I didn't get carried away this year but I walked away with things that I loved and needed.

Happy Thanksgiving! + Macy's 85th Annual Thanksgiving Parade!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all are healthy, happy, and enjoying a delicious turkey/meal with your family and loved ones =) I wish you all the best not only on Thanksgiving but throughout the coming year!

This year I finally went to see the Macy's (85th Annual) Thanksgiving Parade Live!! It's funny since I lived in NYC for 12 years I always watched it on TV. It was a fun experience seeing all the performances, floats, and balloons in person. It was very crowded and chaotic but that's expected since NY doesn't do anything small. Let me know if you saw the parade this year and what your favorite float/balloon was! I really liked the smurf balloon, and the Santa Clause float.

Enjoy the pictures!

Happy Thanksgiving =)

What's a Head Massager?! Best Thing Ever!

Many off you are probably asking yourself, what is a head massager? I had no idea such a contraption existed 2 years ago. I first saw it in Urban Outfitters by the brand Kirkland, it cost approx. $6. At first I was unsure about getting it because I thought how good can it be? Best $6 I have ever spent! It is also really funny looking, at first my parents thought it was a whisk (haha). My massager is over 1 year old and it's still going strong, so point # 1: It lasts long! The massager expands to "hug" your head and it feels amazing, like a tingling sensation sending shivers all the way to your toes!! I love using it! It feels good when you do yourself but feels incredible when someone else does it for you, probably because of the person's different energy and the fact that you don't know how much pressure the person is going to apply and where. I highly recommend getting a head massager, it's one of my favorite products and I will be repurchasing if need be! I think it will make a perfect holiday gift/stocking stuffer too!

Let me know if you ever tried a head massager and what you think of it!

Aquamarine Room Decor! Cute Gift Idea!

Hey guys! Today I am going to share a super cute, and super easy room decor/gift idea with you. It's basically a little seashell bowl that you can decorate or leave natural. I started doing this a few years back after seeing the movie Aquamarine. One of the girls used it to hold her everyday Jewelry and I have been doing the same ever since. Not only can you use them for jewelry, but for bobby pins, loose change, paper-clips, etc... (anything you want really, within reason (size wise)). All you need is bowl-like seashells (you can buy or collect them at the beach) and a few supplies!

I think these would make the cutest DIY gift! I would decorate the shell, buy my friend/sister/mom/etc... a fun piece of jewelry that I would place in the shell and finish by wrapping it up cutely! Tutorial is below!

Types of shells: Natural, Pearl (my favorite), Beaded, Glitter, Painted, Sentimental.

Tutorial:

Let me know if you try this out and which shell is your favorite!

Breaking Dawn Part 1! My Thoughts!

Guess what I just saw?! Breaking Dawn Part 1, YAY! Can you tell that I'm excited? It was really good, much better than I expected. I am a huge Twilight fan, actually it was Twilight that introduced me to the world of vampires. Before reading the books I was not a fan of vampire stories but this saga started a world wide vampire craze! Now I am equally as obsessed with Vampire Diaries, True Blood, and Vampire Academy. The movie started out slow, not slow that it was boring, but slow that it was not action packed. Instead it was more romantic, filled with cute awkward Bella - Edward moments that made me smile =) The second half was more intense and the suspense kept building up until the very end. Speaking of endings, I am not happy that we have to wait a whole year to see part 2 but I liked the cut off point in the story. It ended perfectly, giving the viewer just enough of the story to not leave them clueless but not too much for them to predict the second part (unless like me you already read the books). Going off on a tangent here but even though I read the books I still enjoy watching the movies and vice versa. I like seeing the different interpretations, your mind vs. the director, as well as the experience of seeing it on the screen vs on the page. Something else I noticed, totally random but ever since I started making my videos I am noticing editing in movies and I must say they did a nice job putting this movie together! The effects, transitions and the music where perfectly placed and done. I definitely recommend this movie, a must see in my book. Let me know if you saw the movie yet, and what your thoughts are!

5 Foods for Glowing Skin! Beauty from the Inside-Out!

Beauty from the inside out is as important, if not more than beauty from the outside in. In the long run it's more important to pay attention to your lifestyle and the food fueling your body instead of using x amount of products to get the results you want. Ex. Acne might be a cause of eating too much sugar and starchy foods. Possible solutions: 1. Try cutting back your intake of these substances to clear up your skin or 2. Buy topical creams to solve the problem temporarily. Now I know I'm a product junkie and I need my beauty fix (as I'm sure you do as well) I'm just suggesting to find a balance, (the best of both worlds) for incredible results. I am a huge believer of the phrases: "Less is More" when it comes to almost everything including the amount of products you use on your skin, and "Beauty from the Inside-Out" since natural beauty comes from within.  I was inspired to write this post after coming across an interesting article "5 Foods For Glowing Skin!" discussing food that has an effect on beauty.

You can read the article here: http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/5-foods-glowing-skin-153400356.html but I'm going to give you a little summary!

"Sweet Potatoes keep your skin silky smooth!" They are rich in beta-carotene and, when ingested, are converted into vitamin A, a prime factor in keeping skin touchably soft."
Kiwi.

"Kiwi and any food with lots of Vitamin C like kiwi, oranges, and grapefruit, is a big skin savor. Women who had a diet high in Vitamin C food had noticeably less dryness and fewer wrinkles."

Dark chocolate.
"Enjoying a small piece of dark chocolate will provide high levels of cocoa flavanols, which have been associated with softer, more hydrated skin."

Yogurt."Yogurt makes your skin and nails glow! Thanks to the biotin found in yogurt, it helps increase nail strength."

Nuts and seeds."Nuts and Seeds contain anti-inflammatory and immunity-enhancing nutrients, including vitamin E, that help reduce skin flare-ups."

Cool! Right? Try adding these foods to your diet and see what happens =)

10 Second Healthy Hair Test?! Experiment

I was browsing the Yahoo featured articles section on their main page and came across a article from Women's Health magazine. The quote below instantly intrigue me and I decided to test it out.

"Pluck a strand from your head and drop it into an eight-ounce cup of water. The faster and deeper it sinks, the less protein and moisture it has. If your hair floats, it's healthy."

Seems like a quick and easy test to find out how healthy or damaged you hair actually is.

My sister and I just tried this out and our strand of hair did not sink. It might be that my hair is healthier than I think or this trick did not work. Test this out, it takes less than a minute and let me know your results!

In June I filmed a Everyday Hair Care Routine! Check it out:

Breaking Dawn, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) Wedding Makeup Tutorial!

Hello Lovelies, Who's excited for Breaking Dawn? I can't wait to see it! I filmed an inspired tutorial based on the pictures from  her wedding scene and I love the way it turned out. (Keep reading to see the actual products used)!
The look is very natural (but dramatic for Bella's character), the focus is defiantly on her eyes. I think she looks gorgeous!

After searching online I found a detailed list of the exact products makeup artist Stacey Panepinto used on Kristen in the movie! So cool to know the exact details!

Skincare
"In the morning, SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic and SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture were used to balance and moisturize the skin. At night, SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque was used after Kristen’s makeup was removed. To touch up, Dr. Hauschka Moisturizing Day Cream was dabbed onto Kristen’s forehead, cheekbones and cheeks to refresh the makeup and keep her skin glowing.

Face
* La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 in Peche combined with Sensai Brightening Make-Up Base as foundation
* Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat in 2 Luminous Ivory and Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer in Beige as concealer
* Make Up For Ever HD Powder on the face and Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder under the eyes to set
* Stila Custom Color Blush in Pink as blush

Eyes
* Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil in Brunette/Dark Brown on brows
* Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Winter Nights (now discontinued) as eyeshadow
* Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl Waterproof in Black on her upper lid and the two darkest shades from the Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Winter Nights on the lower
* Dior Diorshow Waterproof in Black
* Three to four bunches of individual lashes in black were applied to the outside edge of each eye

Lips
* Fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 for moisture
* MAC Lip Pencil in Soar was lightly applied and then topped with a custom mix of glosses"

*Breakdown and pictures provided by makeupforlife.net

I searched up the makeup used in the movie to get a better look at the colors. I then tried to find similar shades in my collection to recreate the look. For reference of the shades were going for here is a picture of the Chanel quad used in the Breaking Dawn movie.  These are the products I used:

Face: Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua foundation, Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette, Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural, Bare Minerals Well Rested, Nars Laguna Bronzer, Stilla Blush (tutu).

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Wet n' Wild Vanity Palette (1st shade), Mac Naked Lunch e/s, Mac Wedge e/s, Mac Satin Taupe e/s, Mac Feline Kohl Power Pencil, Naked Palette (Buck & Creep), Buxom Mascara, Mac Lingering brow pencil.

Lips: Nivea a kiss of moisture, Mac Viva Glam Cindy (barely any to get a natural tint).

I love this picture of Bella because we get to see the makeup and the application in detail! The look is subtle and beautiful. Click on the video (below) to see how I recreated the look inspired by Bella's Wedding Makeup.

Nailed It! Glitter Magic!

So for my first Nailed It post I raved about Essie's Topless and Barefoot! I am heads over heels in love with the color! I rarely re-apply the same nail polish shade since I love to switch things up however I did not want to let this one go. So I re-applied it but to give it a twist I topped it off with Sally Hanson Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Strobe Light (similar to the pink glitter from Katy Perry's OPI collection). It's a beautiful pink/holographic glitter polish, and over the nude it looks gorgeous! It's a fantastic nail polish combo. It gives your look some sparkle, and the presentation is stunning. =)

My EOS lip balm collection!

I love my eos (Evolution Of Smooth) lip balms, first off they are so cute and a total conversation starter, second it gives my lips the perfect amount of mositure! Currently there are 6 little egg like lip balms on the market in the flavors: sweet mint, medicated tangerine, honeysuckle honeydew, strawberry sorbet, lemon drop SPF 15, and summer fruit. I own 4 of the 6, I am missing the medicated tangerine, and the summer fruit due to the fact that I really don't need any more lip balms since I have way too many. I love keeping mine in my purse, at my desk, and all throughout the room since they are amazing and honestly I think they look
adorable.

The first member of my eos lip balm family is the Green (Honeysuckle Honeydew). I picked it up during the summer and I have not looked back since. It has a slight melon-y smell nothing too powerful but not my favorite. From all 4 I own this is my least favorite based on the scent alone.
I picked up the lemon drop lip balm shortly after my green one. It was perfect for the summer due to the fact that it has an SPF of 15. It's a great summery scent as well, defiantly smells like a lemon drop but sweeter than your typical citrus-y scents. Out of all 4 this is my 3rd favorite because I reach for it mostly during the summer.

The newest edition to my eos lip balm collection is this newly released pink beauty in strawberry sorbet. It smells like candy and strawberries a really nice combination, perfect for those who have a weakness for sweet scents. I really like the scent of this lip balm so it won 2nd place!
Sweet mint, where to do I start? I love the scent, the color, and the cooling effect it leaves your lips with! This is my perfect lip balm. It smells exactly like the trident sweet mint gum (also my favorite), and I adore the mint blue color of the packaging (also one of my fave colors)! This is definitely the clear winner in my book!

"eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth."

Did you try any of the eos lip balms? Which is your favorite?
