MY QUARTER-LIFE BUCKET LIST

2.26.2018

Today, February 19th, I am celebrating my 25th birthday! I am officially in my mid-twenties and all I seem to can think is ‘where has the time gone?’! WOW - 25! I certainly am very grateful for my wonderful family, friends, and all the opportunities that have come my way and as I reflect on all the turmoil that is taking place in the world today, I feel very very lucky and fortunate that my childhood and young adulthood was blissful and serene in comparison. On a happier note-as today is my birthday, I thought it only appropriate to share my dreams and goals for my 25th lap around the sun, so here goes…my 2018 bucket list:

1. GET MY DRIVER LICENSE!!!
I know, I’m 25 and I do NOT have a license!!! BUTTTT, living in NYC, I never need to drive as public transportation and/or walking is faster (for the most part) and more convenient than driving in NYC traffic. However, seeing as I love one day/mini road trips and dream of traveling the world, I need to add ‘driving’ to my vocabulary!

2. SMELL THE LAVENDER! EXPLORE A LAVENDER FARM.
I love lavender. It’s scent, shape, color- perfection! And this year when the lavender is in full bloom I will make it a priority to take a day trip to a lavender field near NYC. Any recommendations?

3.PLAN A TRIP TO THE WEST COAST!
I want to go explore the west coast and see how the ‘other half’ lives as I’ve never ventured past the east coast! Ideally I would love to go to California for two weeks where I would start in San Francisco, make my way down to Los Angeles, and finish the trip exploring the Grand Canyon in Arizona! Too ambitious? A girl can dream, right!?
4.RELAUNCH MY BLOG AND CREATE A BRAND
I constantly daydream about creating content, I always scribble down ideas of potential posts, and I always take advantage of a picture perfect moment. My goal is to restart this blog and curate well edited posts and content for you to enjoy! To do so, I plan to work on my photography, improve my editing skills, and post consistently to build a strong relationship with my readers.

5.LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE...99% OF THE TIME.
Life is all about moderation and I want to eat to live not live to eat! My biggest vices when it comes to food are sugar and carbs. Delicious, yet a deadly pairing! To reverse their damage I am trying to incorporate more greens in every meal, control my portions, and not eat past 8:00PM for optimal digestion. In regards to exercise, I walk...a lot....as it is one of my primary modes of transportation in NYC, but I would love to incorporate a few more forms of exercise into my life this year because rumor is...endorphins make you happy and as counter-intuitive it sounds...exercise gives you energy!

6.SAY YES TO ADVENTURE!
I want to say YES to adventure, YES to opportunities, YES to experiences, because when life gives you lemons…

This year I want to leave my comfort zone, explore new possibilities, build relationships, and be more spontaneous. I plan and I overanalyze and my mind is often 10 steps ahead of reality. As amazing it is to daydream of all the incredible things to come, I want to ground myself to the hear and now so I don’t miss out on living my life in the present.

What are you going to say YES to this year?

7.COLLECT MEMORIES NOT THINGS!
Words like minimalism, clutter free, clean, declutter, waste free...are music to my ears! I used to think ‘more is more’ and I wanted to have a ‘collection’ of things. A collection of shoes, makeup, clothes… and as my collections grew the less satisfied I became. Things take up mental space and I only want to be surrounded by things that have a purpose in my life, that make me happy, and that inspire me. With age I’ve come to realize that it's better to have a few things that serve you purpose then a lot of things that don’t bring value to your life. I am currently on a journey of intentional living and minimizing and while I don’t see myself as a minimalist nor do I think I will ever be able to live out of a backpack, I am learning that less things equals less stress and anxiety, two things I certainly do not need!

8.WEEKLY TECHNOLOGY DETOX!
Lately it seems my life has been set to the mode: ‘full speed ahead’ and I want to make sure I take some time to destress and to focus on myself. While technology is amazing, I would love to go on a tech detox for an afternoon or a weekend, to unplug and be alone with my thoughts...scary! I would like to treat myself to a weekly DIY mani/pedi and a nourishing face mask and to learn something new such as hand lettering/modern calligraphy instead of binge watching a new Netflix original show (no matter how amazing it might be!).

What a bucket list, huh?! Please do take the time to share your dreams and goals for 2018 with me as well, I’d love to give them a read!

Thank you for spending some time with me today! In efforts to tick off #4 on my bucket list, I will be posting 2 times a week on a Tuesday, Friday schedule at 11:00am EST. See you in my next post!
